Privacy Policy
This explains what we do with your personal data when you use FindLocalRooms — what we collect, why, who sees it, and how to get it removed.

Who is responsible for your data
MarketStack Limited(“we”) is the data controller for personal data collected through findlocalrooms.com. We are registered in England and Wales under company number 17335574, at 150 Nene Terrace Road, Crowland, Peterborough, PE6 0LH.
One important exception. When you send an enquiry about a room, we pass it to the landlord or letting agent advertising that room. From that point they are an independent data controller and decide for themselves what they do with it. We do not control their use of your details, and this policy does not cover it. If you want your details removed from their records, you will need to contact them — though we are happy to help you reach them.
You do not need an account
You can search, filter and browse every room on FindLocalRooms without registering, without logging in and without giving us your name. We only collect personal data if you choose to send an enquiry.
What we collect, and why

We do not collect your phone number, we do not ask for identity documents, and we do not run any advertising or analytics trackers. See our cookie policy.
Who we share it with
The landlord or agent advertising the room you enquired about. That is the entire point of sending an enquiry, and it is what you consent to when you tick the box.
Our service providers, who process data on our instructions only and may not use it for their own purposes:
- Supabase — Database hosting — stores your enquiry and contact record
- Vercel — Website hosting and delivery
- Resend — Sends your enquiry to the landlord by email
- Cloudinary — Stores and optimises listing photographs
- Mapbox — Renders maps and calculates commute areas
- Upstash — Short-lived IP records used to rate-limit abuse
Some of these providers operate outside the UK. Where they do, transfers are made under the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or an adequacy decision.
We do not sell your data, and we never will.
How long we keep it
We keep your enquiry for as long as it is useful to the landlord you sent it to, and to show you a record if you ask us what we hold. If you ask us to delete it, we do so promptly — see below. IP addresses used for rate-limiting expire automatically within minutes.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- ask what personal data we hold about you, and get a copy
- have inaccurate data corrected
- have your data deleted
- object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use it
- withdraw your consent at any time — this does not affect anything done beforehand
- receive your data in a portable format

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, or call their helpline on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you told us first so we can put it right.
A word about scams
Room-rental fraud is real and we take it seriously. We will never ask you to pay a deposit or holding fee through this website, and no genuine landlord should ask you to send money before you have viewed a room and seen a written agreement. If a listing or a reply feels wrong, use the report link on the listing page and tell us.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we use personal data we will update this page and change the date at the top. Where the change is significant, we will say so clearly rather than quietly editing the text.
